Jacqui has worked in the secondary education sector for over 15 years in a variety of roles including: learning mentor, SEAL (social and emotional aspects of learning) coordinator and as part of the Local Authority’s Behaviour Support Team. She currently coordinates pastoral support for year 7 and takes a lead on transition, and specialist interventions across the school.
Jacqui’s background is in counselling and mentoring, and she continues to research latest developments and feed these into her work with young people through group work, the tutor programme and 1:1 support. She also delivers training to staff and parents on a variety of topics within the mental health and emotional wellbeing agenda.
Jacqui is passionate about SEAL and equipping young people with the knowledge and skills they need to help them thrive. She feels that becoming an Attachment Aware School has led to a greater understanding of social and emotional difficulties and given a framework to the development of whole school practices and approaches to support students at a preventative, targeted and specialist level.
